 |
Minnesota, known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, actually has more like 15,000 lakes. There is big water and small water. There are excellent sand beaches, fantastic fishing, tons of snowmobile trails in the winter and many, many tranquil lake views. People yearn for lakeshore property for many reasons and there are as many lake personalities as there are reasons. Minnesota is truly a water lover's playground. About 400 or more of these lakes are located in the Brainerd, Nisswa, and Crosslake area where the Hamilton Team specializes. |
The Whitefish Chain
The Pine River Dam was completed in 1886 and that started a large scale logging development in the Crosslake area. In order to move heavy log beams for the logging industry, the chain of lakes was created and is now known as the Whitefish Chain. The Whitefish Chain consists of 16 different lakes connected by navigable channels. Cross, Upper Whitefish, Lower Whitefish, Middle Whitefish, Daggett, Rush, Island, Loon, Trout, Pig, Clamshell, Bertha, Little Pine, Arrowhead, Lower Hay, and Rush allow boats to utilize about 16 miles of waterways and over 14,000 acres of water. |

Gull Chain
Gull Lake, near Brainerd, is another very popular lake and is also part of a chain. The Gull Chain is made up of a number of different lakes including Bass, Gull, Love, Margaret, Nisswa, Round, Roy, Spider, Thor and Upper Gull. You may have heard of the very famous resorts like Cragun's, Kavanaugh's, Madden's, and Grand View Lodge that are located on Gull Lake.
Pelican, Horseshoe and the Ossawinnamakee Chain (just call it Ossie) are other very popular lakes. Pelican, of course, is where the famous Breezy Point Resort is located.

Whatever you are looking for in lakeshore, one thing for certain is that, there are many lakes to choose from in the Brainerd Lakes area. You might want your own cabin and lot or may be interested in a condo or shared access lakeshore property. The difference is that with your own cabin you get to mow the lawn, rake the leaves, pull lake weeds, get the boat lift in, and shovel snow. In an association, for a fee, that is all done for you - just enjoy!
You may also be interested in seasonal property that you close up for the winter. Although many cabins have been made year 'round, there are still many seasonal properties found in the area and at generally lower prices. |
We are seeing lots of baby boomers moving into the area discovering retirement properties to enjoy. We are also seeing many first time lake home buyers who remember the nostalgia of their uncle's or aunt's or grandpa's lake home years ago and want to share those good times and memories again with their children, grandchildren and friends. Of course, there is also a lot of trading up for a bigger better "Up North" experience. Investing in real estate has never been better.
